Hey, so I decided to head back and here and prep a little more for season 3, but I noticed some of the infoboxes have been changed. You were active recently and I'm assuming this was your doing.
I'll be honest, I'm not really digging this streamlined look. The lack of borders and sub headers, not to mention the overly large space between cells (and the fact that the "premiere" in the season box is awkwardly cut off) just looks... well, bad imo. There isn't even any customization within the editing section either. :(
I know you must have had your reasons for the change, but I'm begging you to please reconsider and rollback the alterations, or at the very least we can reach a middle ground with the design.
Ok, I've reverted all my changes, if you see anything I messed up let me know. The reason I was trying them out is they are a lot more adaptive. Which would make the work well on mobile. It seems like they will add more to it in the future. But, right now there isn't really enough control over what they look like. Also, I love the new photos for the characters you added.
Thank you for reverting the changes. I'm quite relieved now, heh. I figured it may have been for the sake of mobile devices, but I do agree that their current look doesn't offer much customization yet. I'm certain they will improve upon it in the future, so we should probably wait until then to revisit the design.
And thank you, they've finally got the cast and promo photos up for the new season (there are a few more promos I haven't gotten around to uploading just yet). I'm hoping they can release a full group photo soon or something so we can update the wikis background as well.
Again, thanks for the reversion, and hope you enjoy Season 3 when it arrives (a back-to-back premiere too).
Woo, HACF has been renewed! I was starting to worry.
I'm probably gonna start contributing again while we wait for the next season to primiere, and I was wondering if you were willing to grant me admin privledges. I could help clean some things up around here (unused photos and articles, for instance).
Anyhoo, thanks in advanced and hope to see you around. ;)
OK - here is my next challenge - I have ideas for several new articles but I'm already seeing past ones like Cardiff Electric and Halt and Catch Fire? are not all that readily seen unless you hit the page that originally linked them, otherwise they just aren't visible.
What do you suggest we do to organize articles so they can be found In a list or other method?
Show me a way to organize / index / advertise articles and I'll write some more.
Ya the site is run off of mediawiki. They have a lot of stuff on there site. I havn't found a way to line those up so I think we need to go with the regular. Then we can make a special page with a bunch of statistcs. Using these Here. Near the bottom there is a bunch of stuff we can use.
I got it fixed i think. At the bottom of the page you have a little menu bar you should have Admin on it. If not go into customize and add it. There is a lot of useful stuff in there. That is where you would go to change the menu bar.
don't know how to create them but can you add two noew ones so we can avoid orphans, and provide more than one way to get to these pages?
1) Actors - self explanatory
2) Supporting cast - Ive started doing some work for the emerging, lesser characters. Right now I've limited that to those with 7 or more appearances, but even after writing Bios, I don't see "Debbie" on the "Characters" list so why don't we start a sub category of Supporting Characters, and post a message limiting inclusion to 7, 6, of at most 5 appearances on the show. We could drop that limit over time to make sure all the 7's are strongly documented before adding the 6's etc.
Sorry I was vague on the wording, He had it set up so it would choose the top 8 people out of the character Cat. I changed we could choose who shows up so the main cast shows up and not the supporting cast. Because we can only have 8 people on the drop down menu.
thoughts on how to categorize the supporting characters then? there are a hundred of them and while I don't want to do each one, there are some important ones that need to be included, and we need a category for them and their images.
same question / issue for the actor pages and images - how to categorize consistently>
