History[]
Although not much is known about MacMillan, much can be speculated. He is seen as the hard-working father of Joe Macmillan, who had some sort of fallout before the first episode. Macmillan Sr. works as the head of IBM, or at least an employee of higher status in the company.
Early Life[]
Season 1[]
Joe's only on-screen appearances are in this season. He has a layover in Dallas and attempts to meet with his son who stands him up. That evening he meets Cameron whom he attempts to recruit to work at IBM. ("Adventure", S1;E5) Later that year, Joe is surprised to find his son waiting for him in his New York home; he is confronted about IBM's planned product that competes with the one he is developing and about their family history. While there he attempts to recruit his son to work at IBM. ("The 214s", S1:E8)

Joe reveals to Cameron over the phone that his father passed away during their long conversation ("Signal to Noise", S4;E2)
